When 75-year-old Camilla Watts suffered three strokes last March, her doctor told her she needed to dance if she ever hoped to recover.
That's because, as he explained it to her, dance is a wonderful way to exercise and she needed physical activity to get her heart going and her blood pumping.
So when the Kerrville-based doo-wop group the Moonlites entertained seniors at the Lopez Senior One-Stop Center on Culebra Monday, Camilla's doctor would have been proud to see how much she danced.
The Moonlites wowed the crowd of nearly 200 seniors with their favorite songs from the 1940s, '50s and '60s.
The event was arranged by Dr. Jose De Jesus, a WellMed physician who also happens to be a doo-wop singer. After seeing so many folks at the event, he pledged to bring the Moonlites back for a return engagement in the near future.
